Last night I finished Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent series. I have seen the movies for both of these books before borrowing my roommate’s copies to read. It’s interesting how different the ending of the movie was from the book. I think that they made a good choice in changing it for the film, it was better for the screen.
So! I went on GoodReads to update my 2015 book challenge and noticed this section of suggestions based on my “bookshelves”. Now, I have a bookshelf called “Gave Up”, where I save the books I never finish reading after removing them from the “Currently Reading”
section shelf. It holds one book; Catch 22. And may soon hold Fall of the Governor Part 2, which I haven’t read in a really long time and once left in my car for a week because I didn’t care enough to go get it and I just started reading another book until I needed to use my car, but haven’t actually committed to giving up on it yet.
What was the point of this? Oh Yeah! GoodReads suggested this list of books I should read based on not finishing Catch 22, because GoodReads doesn’t understand that said list is book(s) I never finished reading, and therefore I should probably not even attempt to read these books, and thank you for that GoodReads! Because now I will avoid them and not even waste my time! Except for Sweet Thursday, that book I actually do want to read. I wonder how this will change once I officially give up on Fall of the Governor Part 2.
I think I’ve given up on Fall of the Governor Part 2 because I know how it should end. I was the tv show. I love the tv show. I know that parts of it are different but the overall ending, him falling/failing, is going to be the same. It’s given away in the title. Another book, this one I loved, as did my sister, that has the ending in the title is John Dies at the End.
For now I am reading Darling You Can’t Do Both by Janet Kestin & Nancy Vonk, and I will admit to buying this book while I was searching for coding books and didn’t want to go home empty-handed and feel like my trip to Chapters was a waste. Yes I still call it Chapters even though all the stores are now Indigo. And will continue to avoid the other one.
Side note: I am going to Vegas this weekend for a week and am planning to take Still Alice and possibly one other book with me. I will finish the Divergent series when I am back, I just don’t want to take my roommate’s book with me.
Head over to GoodReads to keep up with what I am reading! If you have a book to suggest, please tell me in the comments below!
